Lakes, Liberty, & Leisure: An All-American Summer By The Water

Geneva Lake
Geneva Lake

Summer at the lake is waiting for you in WalCo! With over 40 named lakes in Walworth County, ranging in size from 8 to 5,000 acres, there’s a lake for every adventure. From fishing on Delavan Lake to waterskiing on Geneva and finding serenity on Pleasant Lake, WalCo is the place to be for lake life.

Wander the Water:

You can BYOB (bring your own boat) or rent one for the day. Either way, you’ll need to get out on the water and make some waves.

Geneva Lake: The 5401-acre lake, known for its 21-mile shore path, mail-jumping boat tours, and opulent mansions, is ready for any water sport you desire. Public boat launches can be found in downtown Lake Geneva, Williams Bay, Fontana, and the town of Linn.

Lake Como: A smaller, quieter alternative to Geneva with a more “classic” Wisconsin feel. Great for fishing and cruising around on a pontoon with public launches on each side of the lake.

Delavan Lake: This beauty of Walworth County is known for its abundant fishing, and with 1900 acres to enjoy, it’s a great choice for your boating adventures. Access the public launch or hang out at the public beach.

Lauderdale Lakes: With a total surface area of 800 acres, the three lakes of Green, Middle, and Mill offer a picturesque and more secluded day on the water. A true hidden gem, spend the entire day on the water exploring the chain of lakes and experiencing different lake environments without ever leaving the water.

Rent, Ride, Relax:

Whether you’re looking to cruise the crystal clear waters of Geneva Lake or explore the quiet channels of the Lauderdale Lakes, WalCo offers a diverse fleet of rental options to suit any itinerary. For large groups and relaxed social outings, you’ll find an abundance of tri toons and pontoons from established outfitters like Elmer’s or The Boat House, while thrill-seekers can opt for high-performance Cobalt speedboats and dedicated wakeboard boats from Gordy’s Marine in Fontana. If you prefer a more self-contained resort experience, Lake Lawn Resort on Delavan Lake provides everything from wave runners and powerboats to kayaks and paddleboards, ensuring that whether you want to captain your own adventure or hire a professional driver for a guided tour, the perfect day on the water is well within reach.

Supper At The Shore:

Walworth County offers a signature dining experience on every shore, perfect for those who want to transition straight from the boat to the table. On Geneva Lake, Gordy’s Boat House in Fontana is the ultimate summer staple, serving up famous burgers and fresh seafood in a high-energy atmosphere right on the waterfront. Tucked away on the shores of Lake Como, Mars Resort provides a quintessential Wisconsin experience, known for its legendary Friday fish fry, sunset views, and sandy beach seating. For those on Delavan Lake, the Village Supper Club offers a modern spin on a historic tradition, combining traditional supper club vibes with stunning vistas from its newly renovated lakeside dining room. Finally, the Lauderdale Lakes experience isn't complete without a stop at Lauderdale Landing, where you can dock your boat and enjoy a casual meal on the deck while watching the activity on Middle Lake.

A Taste Of Summer

After a fun day on the water, getting ice cream is a favorite local tradition. In the town of Fontana on Geneva Lake, you can walk right from your boat to Blue Heaven Ice Cream for a yummy cone. Nearby in Williams Bay, Dip in the Bay is another great place to grab a scoop and enjoy the view.

In the town of Walworth, many love to visit Meggy Moo’s Dairy Ripple for huge soft-serve sundaes. Over at Delavan Lake, you can stop by the Delavan Lake Store for a classic scoop of ice cream and some fun shopping. Take a short drive to East Troy to visit J. Lauber’s Ice Cream Parlor, an old-fashioned soda shop that serves amazing malts and shakes.

Whether you’re wakeboarding on the clear waters of Geneva, enjoying the beauty of Lake Como, fishing near the sprawling shores of Delavan Lake, or cruising the winding channels of Lauderdale Lakes, WalCo is the ultimate destination for a classic summer by the water. No matter which shores you land on, you’re guaranteed a perfect day of sunshine and sweet memories.
